9.00 Get on board at Abbotsford dock. Welcome with coffee, a safety briefing and introduction to the yacht. Cast off the mooring and learn to manoeuvre under power, exploring Sydney's Parramatta River.
11.00 Pass under the Harbour Bridge
Your opportunity to sail a 60 foot yacht really begins! We will spend the rest of the day handling the yacht under sail - from the Harbour Bridge to The Heads and maybe beyond.
13.30 Lunch break
Pick up a mooring or anchor, lunch and the chance of a swim
14.30 Back to sailing.
Sailing is a wonderful pastime and we try to run the course at a speed that allows all levels of student to enjoy the experience to the full.
19.00 Anchor for Dinner near Opera House
Dinner on board - we're happy to cater for vegetarians, vegans whatever!
20.30 Lift the anchor
Spend about two hours sailing by night. Learn how different it is to sail in the dark - see the lights and landmarks of the harbour at night
22.30 Anchor for the night
Sleep in your own twin berth or double cabin
08.00 Leisurely breakfast
Along with the chance of a swim and shower.
09.00 Theory and some practical work on deck (go up mast for example),
10.00 Pick up the anchor
Spend Sunday reinforcing what we learned, some more advanced sailing and theory, including a chance to sail near The Heads
14.30 Back to Abbotsford Bay
Lunch on the go as we pass back under the Harbour Bridge, manoeuvre under power and sail
15.30 pick up our mooring
Learn how to pick up a mooring and tidy and secure the boat.
16.00 Finish
Students back on shore at Montrose Reserve.
• Soft shoes (no black soles please!)
• Change of clothes
• Sleeping bag and torch
• Waterproofs
• Hat and sunglasses, water bottle, sunscreen
• Swimming costume - this is optional of course
• A big smile :-)
You'll be pulling on ropes too, so gloves of some kind too.
