Sally and Peter Edington lived aboard their 60-foot yacht Loquax for many years. With their teenage daughters they cruised the Med, the Caribbean and the South Pacific.
By 2013, they felt they should share their knowledge, and their yacht, with anyone who dreams of the Ocean life - and that was the start of The Ocean Sailing Club.
Since then, Loquax has been owned by the UK-based non-profit Club and it has always been Sally and Peter's hope that people from many diverse walks of life will join them on board. The membership was deliberately set at an affordable £30 ($50) per year, which you recoup from any training you do, to make this accessible to as many as possible.
Towards the end of 2022, Loquax will switch from the British to the Australian ships' registry. That will be under the new incarnation of the Club, now known as "The Ocean Sailing Club of the South". But everything else about the club will remain unchanged from the perspective of its members
On board, you can experience the joys and master the skills of Ocean Sailing. Feel the thrill of landfall at a distant island, knowing you share this exquisite moment with the great sailors of our time and of history.
The Club has over one hundred members.

Climate Change and Wealth Inequality
Having spent time in many less-fortunate regions of the world, Peter and Sally Edington are acutely aware of such issues as Poverty and Climate that disproportionately affect developing nations, especially island in Oceania. They have also worked with a number of NGOs helping poor and blind people in Africa.
Over that 20 years, some of the imperatives have changed, but the underlying excesses of the developed world remain the chief cause of the current Climate Emergency.
That is why the Ocean Sailing Club yacht has been used for publicity to highlight the dangers of Ocean pollution and of Fossil-fuel extraction.
